How Derek Became My Trusted Insurance Agent

Hi, I’m Jessica. I’m gonna be talking about my story of how I came across Derek, and how he became my insurance agent.

It started off with a lot of nightmare stories from my friends about how insurance agents are like – once they sell you a policy, they go MIA. So, I was very sceptical about if I should get insurance for myself.

Derek was very polite. He was very prompt in answering me. I was thinking about adding new policies or changing my policy, and he was able to explain all the technicalities; I think the important thing is, from all the jargon of the insurance documents, he’s able to translate that and make it comprehensible for me.

After I got my insurance policy, I moved to Prague shortly after to start working. Because I was there for a few years, I was thinking maybe I should cancel my policy in Malaysia because I have my public health insurance in Prague. I rang up Derek and I asked him, “Hey, do you think I should cancel my policy? From my perspective, what’s best for me?” He advised against it, and mentioned that if I cancelled it, and changed my mind in the future, it wouldn’t be as cheap as I needed it to be.

Thankfully, I listened to his advice , because when I came back again 10 years later, I had a health scare. I ended up hospitalised, and I was very thankful that I still had this Prudential policy and I was able to get my hospital bills claimed.

I highly recommend Derek as an insurance agent because not many insurance agents are as consistent as him. He’s able to keep up with me even though I’m quite difficult to reach as I live in a different time zone. He’s very responsive, very prompt in answering me within the day, within the hour even, and come back to me with very detailed answers.
